The "Setup" Lesson

Lesson Plan for the Setup day, where you will be getting all your students into your classroom

There are several ways for you to get your students all onto BandLab and into your classroom. I am only going over the way I have done it with my students in this section, and it has always worked really well!

On Setup Day:

  • Students will need their computer, chromebook, or device they are using for the lessons.

    • Make sure they bring their device login information just in case they forget it.

  • Explain that today will be a setup day, that they will be completing other activities while you go around to help them set up their accounts.

    • In the past I have had students use Chrome music lab while I walk around and set up everyone's accounts. You can do the same, or have students explore the BandLab studio once they get logged in, create a music tech coloring page, etc.

  • Walk around to every student and personally add them to your classroom, saving a bookmark for BandLab, and SAVING THEIR LOGIN INFORMATION

    • My school district has their google accounts locked from creating accounts, so I use their school emails, and a common password between all students in case they forget to save their login information

    • If your district does not lock their school accounts, use those to log in. That would be easier.

    • This age of student can be very tech savvy once they are in the program, but many of them are helpless getting set up on their own. That is why I save at least 20 minutes the lesson before I want to start just to set up every student in my class.

  • Once everyone is logged in, you can jump straight to MODULE 1, or save that for the next class period.
